Hey, you’re back! I’m so pumped for another episode (volume, edition, whatever) of What’s Working Wednesday - where I find content that did really well around the Internet and share it with you so you can take what worked and apply it for yourself.
Let’s just jump right into it (I’m saving the best for last too, btw)…
My girl Katie Steckly! I saw this video pop up from her and thought it was brilliant and, apparently, so did the rest of Instagram (and I think it did well for her on YouTube shorts and TikTok too). Katie’s normal reels get around 14k-30k views and this one has 250k views in just 5 days.
Why? It’s funny, it’s real, it’s poking fun at herself and people in our industry, and it’s engaging.
Oh! Before we keep this train movin’, I’m hosting a FREE workshop next week to really drill down on the type of content that WORKS, the type of content YOU should be creating to actually make money - whether you’re selling your own digital products or courses, selling affiliate products, or trying to get brand deals - this is the formula for money making content in a free workshop. I’m gonna go ahead and throw in a YouTube video here. I don’t follow Deya but saw this video pop up on my suggested/home feed and instantly knew it would do well and, after giving it a watch, it definitely deserved the views it got (has about 50k views).
Why does it work? The thumbnail paired with the title is literal perfection, first of all. A simple checklist that’s blurred out so we have to watch the video to see what it is, the caveat that it’s “boring, but it works” and the descriptor that this is the daily checklist to get to $100k/year with the implication that it’s EASY because it’s just a checklist on the Apple notes app.
But then, when you watch the video, it’s great - good info, actual step-by-step list going through exactly what she teased, easy-to-follow steps.
This reel made me watch over and over and over again! It’s incredibly creative with camera angles and actions to the beat of the Doechii song she’s using, there’s text hooks, there’s a million visual hooks.
So good.
This one is older but it’s clearly getting tractions still because *I* saw it this week. The initial caption was “everything isn’t a 2-person job” and then these two grown men proceeded to do 4-5 construction tasks together - holding the same saw, carrying the same piece of wood (photo above), etc. It was funny as hell.
This works because it’s unexpected - you don’t expect to grown dudes to do these things, the music was funny, the actions they took as a pair were funny - just freakin’ funny and funny works.
ok, so good. I’ve seen this trend before but these two ladies did it SO WELL. Basically it’s funny and keeps your attention to see how it ends, that’s why it works. This friend “eats” her other friend at the airport to avoid having to pay for two flights, proceeds to walk like she’s about to poop her pants through the airport and on their way to their destination, until she gets there and strains to “poop her out”.
So funny, so good.
Ok, last but MOST DEFINITELY not least 🤣
This is what looks like a Levi store/some type of clothing store and this guy in the screenshot is the social media manager; it opens with the owner being like, “I’m the owner and I don’t see why we can’t post 20 times/week” (I’m not quoting that exactly, but something like that), and then the next guys says, “I’m the janitor and I don’t see why we can’t film 80 pieces of content/week”; this guys, who later reveals himself to be the social media manager, has a look of disgust and annoyance to each of their statements, and then the camera goes to him and he says, “and i’m on the social media manager and I say you can shut the fu…” and the video cuts off.
So good, so simple, so funny, so catchy, to scroll stopping.
If you missed MY content this week - I dropped a reel of me taking brand photos for my sister’s new biz that did really well, and a video about my best YouTube advice - you should give them a looksie.
And don’t forget about the workshop that I’m hosting next week where I’m going to give you the exact formula to create content that does well and makes moolah!
